What did Together Women get up to this International Women’s Day?

Happy International Women’s Day! This year we’ve had some amazing events in each of our centres. Ranging from Awards days, to wellbeing events, our International Women’s Day was an empowering day for all!

Bradford

In our Bradford centre, International Women’s Day was focused on highlighting the support available to women in the Bradford area. We hosted a joint event with Probation Practitioners to show the available support and ensure that women in the Bradford area know that there are safe spaces for them. At the event, there were toiletries, clothes, care packages, as well as cakes for those who attended and we were also joined by other organisations who shared their work with us!

Hull

For International Women’s Day, our Hull centre had a day of baking! We made cakes and hot chocolate. Have a look at our women’s creations:

Leeds

In Leeds we hosted a day of celebration, achievement and appreciation for our customers and staff. With certificates, medals and gifts for our prize winners, we wanted to thank everyone for their amazing and inspiring work. Our day also involved a women’s day quiz, storytelling and speeches as well as food for everyone to enjoy. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you for all your exceptional work.

Sheffield

Just before the day itself, on 6th March, our Sheffield centre held a special International Women’s Day event at their Wellbeing Café! We had a lovely day, sharing an afternoon tea with sandwiches, cakes and scones with jam and clotted cream!

During the café we did some colouring sheets of notable women in history, word searches and guess the inspiring woman. In line with this year’s theme of #EmbraceEquity, we also spoke about equality vs equity, discussing individual needs and what equity looks like to us. As International Women’s day is about celebrating and appreciation of women’s achievements, we also held a mini celebration ceremony where we celebrated each attendee. Each woman was interviewed, introduced by another woman and recognised for what makes her special!

Our day was filled with positivity and celebration. Thank you to everyone who joined.
